oneSafe App Reviews

Tried several of the “safe” apps for Mac with iOS integration. This is by far the best. Simple and intuitive. It is powerful yet easy to understand. Backup is VERY easy to create and is password protected itself. This new version even has a better user interface - both the Mac version and the versions for your iPad and iPhone. It integrates 100% with Safari and all passwords are saved on all your Apple units via iCloud! Both iOS and OS X works seamless together. Very “Macish” other simliar apps are very PCish and does not feel as intuitive as OneSafe. Price is a joke but most likely they will raise it soon so for us who buy it now it is a bargain! Black Friday every day... I use the app on a daily basis - normally I enter all my info like credit cards, codes etc. on my computer at home and then use it from my mobile units. Now with the update it even creates well encrypted “cards” inside the OneSafe app so I don´t have to open Keychain every time my wife asks for a password - just email her that “card” from my OneSafe to her OneSafe 100% encrypted. Family Sharing means you buy the app once and you can both use it. Highly recommended app - only negative is the default colors inside the app but you can change them manually!

Having finally settled on OneSafe when my longterm favorite, NotePad Delux, was no longer available, I keep being impressed with this program. I looked at a lot of programs for this use or approximately for this use, and none matches up, to me. I know one could do a lot more than I do with this, but at any level, it is a great program with outstanding support!

After all the problems I had in the past, I deleted all copies of this app from all my Macs and iDevices. I then installed this app on a Mac, created a password, select CloudKit to sync, then add documents. When I installed the app on another Mac I was asked if I already have data on iCloud, and chose yes, then the app attempted to “import” my data from the cloud but the progress bar seem to have frozen. After several crashes and repeated tries I ended up with two copies or “containers” of my data on iCloud drive. After retrying, restarting, and troubleshooting, it finally, somehow, got the data I added in the first Mac to appear in the second one (not sure how). For some reason, the process on the iDevices was very smooth and flawless. However, now everytime I add an item to OneSafe on any Mac, and open OneSafe on the other Mac I see a yellow “key” instead of the new document. I click on it, then I am asked to enter the password, then after I do the key is replaced with a yellow rectangle/frame. I used “troubleshoot” button in the Sync preferences to rebuild the cache and the app crashed. When I restarted the app, the new document displayed properly. This sequence of events is very reproducible. Unfortunately, this potentially very useful app is riddled with problems that seems to hang around despite many updates.

Does not work!

Version 2.0.31 for Mac remains unusable. Only syncs with Dropbox. It is no longer an great App.

Does not sync across devices anymore, which makes it near-useless, and the reason I bought it. The User Guide does not match current version, so: useless. Will no longer recommend.

I have been a user of this app(iOS version)for 3+ years. The OSx version is dissapointing and crashers almost overy time. Dont waist your money. The Safari add-in is NOT available from Apple; and is available through Lunabee; it is clumsy and crashes also.

I’ve been using OneSafe for a couple of years (I think) on both my macBook and iPad. The iPad still functions … but the version (2.0.3 now) on my MacBook constantly crashes within a few seconds after entering the password. I’ve had a lengthy correspondence with OneSafe/Lunabee without no satisfaction … they kept saying that the new version would cure the problem - that was 2.0.3 which I installed, and it didn’t … still got the problem. I’ve given up on Lunabee. If anyone out there has any advice, I’d be grateful to hear from you. I had gotten dependent on the program, spending a lot of time transferring data, etc, etc … I’m sure you know!

I frequently have issues where items are not synchronized between devices via iCloud and I have to go into the troubleshooting section of OneSafe and force a cache rebuild. Then theres the issue of things appearing to work fine for a few weeks then suddenly I have duplicates of all my double encrypted categories. Ive given up trying to understand why this happens or to remove the duplicates. One sorry excuse of a way to work around the duplicates is to choose one copy of each and always add new entries to just that copy. In the mobile app this is somewhat easy to do because each category has a total count of all items in it so I use the copy with the higher content count. Yet the desktop app does not display this count. Anywhere. That I can find anyway. So youre gambling with updating the wrong copy. And who knows what consequences that has down the road. Do the categories replicate exponentially next time? And theres the consume-all-CPU-resources-indefinitely-until-OneSafe-is-closed issue. That also happens only every few days. If you want to reliably sync encrypted data among your devices, OneSafe is not for you. If you want to have a local encrypted vault on one device in which to store pictures and website passwords, OneSafe will probably work in a pinch. For a few weeks. But be warned that OneSafe chose to encrypt your data with the quantum wascally wabbit bits algorithm. Your encrypted data will multiply like rabbits listening to the sweet sweet love tunes of Barry White.

Starbucks gave me the iOS app free several months ago and it functioned well. As a stand-alone app, it provides a convenient database of user provided logins, passwords, etc, which functioned better than the google doc I had previsouly been using to keep track of sensitive information. My satisfaction using the iOS app parlayed into downloading the OS X app which proported to sync across all devices, saving data securely to ones Apple iCloud account. After ironing out a few wrinkles in the initial sync, both iPhone and MacBook worked well together. Syncing failed a few weeks ago and a local reset (recovery using my DB ‘saved’ to my iCloud) resulted in unexpected data loss. …. :/ grrrr…. Pros: EASY TO USE: Using the OS X app, synced with the mobile app, I can quickly import my sensitive information on my desktop and have it available while on the road. QUICK: The iOS app provides touchID access redusing the ‘effort’ to get to senstive information. QUICK: OS X system integration and browser plugins make access to senstive information rapid. DATA OWNERSHP: Exports all data to CSV for app-free retention of information. Cons: UNSTABLE: The OS X app crashes frequently (~30% of use results in a crash). UNSTABLE: Image search crashes the OS X app ~80% of the time. UNRELIABLE: Stability reduces my confidence to keep this app as my primary respository of sensitive information. DESIGN FAILURE: Database templates are limited in scope & custom templates are not available to create (to the best of my knowlege) DESIGN FAILURE: OS X browser plugin password suggestion pop-up prohibits browser use until dialogue is dismissed. FOREIGN OWNERSHIP: Ownership in Singapore, outside of the US, means I only use tolkens of my senstive information. I never include the entirety of my sensitive information in the database. (good practice for anyone storing sensitive informaiton on harddrves out of one’s control) I have, perhaps irrational, fear of a foreign entity with control over my personal information. Summary: Clearly the Cons out number the Pros, however, the OS X/iOS app tag-team is convenient enough to continue to use. Frequent crashes are frustrating and I don’t recommend the software to anyone unable to cope with unexpected program failure and/or data loss. For those of you with a strong will and exceptional patience looking to move away from hardcopy or spreadsheet password lists, OneSafe may be a nice step up, albeit small.

Bought this app last year and have been using it daily. Syncs seemless between my computer and my iOS devices. Tested other apps but like this since it does not interfer with keychain. Just want an app to save my password - not to fill them out in Safari. Thats what Keychain is for. User interface very intuitive and easy to create groups like login, ID:s etc. Even has an extra “inner vault” for things you want to have one level safer. Has TriPIN a new and impossible to break PIN system. App even takes a picture of others who tries to log in to your safe! Easy to send records to my husband who has OneSafe as well, or to friends as a normal email or message. Overall a great app and encrypted backup is done in a whim. Big plus for the total integration with iCloud Drive, when I add a record it syncs in seconds via Apples servers. I am using it both on my computer and my iOS devices and can recommend this app to everyone who needs to store personal information including documents and other files in a safe way.

I’ve used this app for a long time. I really like the core functionality, it’s well designed and works. I never use the browser plugins, but I love how you can securely copy-paste passwords in public places. But the synchronization features have gone down the drain like rock. I have multiple Macs and keeping 100s of passwords synced between them is crucial in my workflow. It all was great until the iCloud interface had to be updated. Then I ended up with duplicates, and stuff that doesn’t sync. And now it’s a wholy mess that will take an hour or more to clean up. May have to find a new solution.

I bought this for all of my devices, and am extremely disappointed. It doesn’t sync, the Mac version bogs down processor, etc. Plain NOT FUNCTIONAL.

Bmpauls · 10 years ago

This app crashes when I try to add new / rename category. Its impossible to change directory sync from local to iCloud / CloudKit. CloudKit stops syncing. And iCloud sync creates duplicates. This all needs work! Its not a finished product ready for the end-user.

Updated my iPhone and the new version of this software does not work with iCloud. Thus, i contacted support and this is the response i recieved. "Hi, Im sorry about that. Thats true that iCloud sync is not working very well with certain users. I advise you to activate dropbox sync method instead of iCloud." So I should use dropbox for an Apple app? Nah, No Thanks. Would stick around if they had said they are working on a fix. Time to move to an app that works.

Not sure why so many negatvie reviews. This app syncs perfectly with my iMac, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Tablet, Macbook Pro Laptop. I use Dropbox to sync them all and never had an issue. LOVE IT!

First of all let me say that I use to truly love using the OneSafe APP on my MAC before the upgrade to Yosemite and iOS 8. On Dec 15th when the company updated the iOS app, all the Syncing options wiped the information from my iPhone and iPad. I know it use to work in Yosemite and iOS 8 before the 1.5.1 update. Emma at OneSafe initially said that it would be fixed in a couple of days. When I checked back nothing has been changed and the fix has not been updated. Yes it’s only been four days; however, this app is a “key” to my many passwords and I have to keep going back to my computer and looking them up. Since I they haven’t updated the App I’m investigating into another security application. ———————— Very dissatisfied with the version 2.0.301, I’ve had to completely uninstall it on my computer then reinstall it. Finally when I backed up the files it initially didn’t have any backed up files on iCloud Kit. Luckily I did an Export back-up file and had to use that. The password has locked my wife out of her user identity twice now and no simple solution through their tech support. I do not recommend buy this APP as it is not fully compatible with the APP on a MAC and iPhone. It only seems to “sync” with iPhone and iPad, not as advertised as one complete solution.
