Lofty Concept Struggles With Functionality

Starbucks gave me the iOS app free a while back and it functioned well. As a stand-alone app, it provides a convenient database of user provided logins, passwords, etc, which functioned better than the google doc I had previsouly been using to keep track of sensitive information. My satisfaction using the iOS app parlayed into downloading the OS X app which proported to sync across all devices, saving data securely to ones Apple iCloud account. After ironing out a few wrinkles in the initial sync, both iPhone and MacBook worked well together. Syncing failed a few weeks ago and a local reset (recovery using my DB ‘saved’ to my iCloud) resulted in unexpected data loss. …. :/ grrrr….

Pros:
EASY TO USE: Using the OS X app, synced with the mobile app, I can quickly import my sensitive information on my desktop and have it available while on the road.
QUICK: The iOS app provides touchID access redusing the ‘effort’ to get to senstive information.
QUICK: OS X system integration and browser plugins make access to senstive information rapid.
DATA OWNERSHP: Exports all data to CSV for app-free retention of information.

Cons:
UPDATE: UNSTABLE: The OS X app crashes frequently (~98% of use results in a crash). <- At this point, it’s more like a convienent auto-close feature I’ve come to rely on. (each time I send the report to apple)
UNSTABLE: Image search crashes the OS X app ~80% of the time.
UNRELIABLE: Stability reduces my confidence to keep this app as my primary respository of sensitive information.
DESIGN FAILURE: Database templates are limited in scope & custom templates are not available to create (to the best of my knowlege)
DESIGN FAILURE: OS X browser plugin password suggestion pop-up prohibits browser use until dialogue is dismissed.
FOREIGN OWNERSHIP: Ownership in Singapore, outside of the US, means I only use tolkens of my senstive information. I never include the entirety of my sensitive information in the database. (good practice for anyone storing sensitive informaiton on harddrves out of one’s control) I have, perhaps irrational, fear of a foreign entity with control over my personal information.

Summary:
Clearly the Cons out number the Pros, however, the OS X/iOS app tag-team is convenient enough to continue to use. Frequent crashes are frustrating and I don’t recommend the software to anyone unable to cope with unexpected program failure and/or data loss. For those of you with a strong will and exceptional patience looking to move away from hardcopy or spreadsheet password lists, OneSafe may be a nice step up, albeit small.
