Nice app but sync inconsistencies are its Achilles Heel
We have all Apple devices - 2 iPhones, an iPad and a MacBook Pro, with OneSafe running on all devices. The UI is nice and I like the password access options. It is easy and intuitive to add and organize various information that you want to safely store. Import, Export and backup options are nice.
Now the bad: we have been syncing using iCloud. Everything is fine for months, but then suddenly our item counts are off across devices. I have audited all devices and one device is missing one or two entries, the next device one or two different entries. They are usually the new entries but not always. I am diligent about backing up every week, so when this happens, I shut down iCloud, restore my database on the Mac, and then rebuild cache on the iOS devices. With the latest release, we’ve lost the ability to force a synchronization which would occasionally resolve an issue. This latest release also added a CloudKit option but this doesn’t work on a Mac. I decided to give up on iCloud synchronization and move to DropBox. When I did that, the app would crash on the iOS devices when I attempted to turn off iCloud. So far, I don’t believe I’ve lost data, but it is time consuming and very frustrating whenever this happens. Moreover, it erodes one’s overall confidence in the integrity of the App. I keep sticking with it hoping they will get their act together on synchronization and because they tout each new release as new and improved in that area, it seems to be that the same old problems persist.
11/22/2015 update: Version 2.0.0 quits unexpectedly when trying to access preferences. App still crashes on iOS devices since I turned off iCloud. Very frustrating….
